Hello my name is Eun Seo Lee and I'm going to introduce 경복궁 palaces.
There were 5 palaces during the Joseon Dynasty. They are 경복궁, 창덕궁, 창경궁, 경희궁, and 덕수궁 palaces. The 경복궁 Palace was the main and largest palace among them. The name of 경복궁 means "The Palace of Greatest Fortune". King 태조 built this palace for his dynasty. There are mountains behind 경복궁 palace and a stream at the front. According to the 풍수지리, this was the perfect location.
In 경복궁, there is 근정전 in outer palace. 근정전 is the throne hall and the main building of the palace. It may look like a two story building, but it is actually a single story with a high ceiling. Ceremonies such as coronations, royal weddings and Chinese envoy receptions were held here, as well as national office works.
사정전 is a part of the outer palace, and it functioned as the king's office where he does his daily work. Here, the king would gather with his officials to discuss political affairs or study Confucianism.
강녕전 is a part of the inner palace. This was the king's living quarters, where he would sleep and rest after work. Sometimes he would hold dinner parties and discuss national affairs with his officials here as well.
