Today I learned a lot. What was particularly impressive was the Dancheong.Dancheong is korean styled decorations that are used on buildings. During the Joseon Dynasty, palaces and temples were painted with Dancheong. It have five colors which are red, black, white, green or blue, and yellow. Red means fire, black means water, white means metal, green or blue means tree or wood, and lastly yellow means earth. Also those colors have directions too. Like south, north, west, east, and center. I was surprised that dancheong can protects the wood from moisture and insect. I thought it just used in decorations. Thank you for read my essay! |
