Hello my name is Yuha. Today I went to Deoksugung/Gyeongungung Palace. I'm going to talk about Jeonggwanheon and King Gojong and the coffee. Jeonggwanheon was King Gojong's relaxation place. He also received foreign envoys here. It was designed by an Russian architect Sabatin in 1900, and includes Korean and Western architectural designs. The building has a Roman style stone pillars and traditional Korean designs such as bats and blue ans yellow dragons. King Gojong enjoyed drinking coffee and he usually drank coffee at Jeonggwanheon. When coffee was first imported to Korea, people did not know how to drink coffee properly. So, some people drank coffee in a small glass and some drank coffee like it was liquor. |
