Hello, my name is Mingwan, and I would like to talk about the Independence Gate.

There are many Independence Gates around the world, in countries like Russia, France, and Romania. There is also an Independence Gate in Korea. It was built in 1896 as a symbol of Korean independence. The gate was modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in France. At that time, Korean people donated money to build it. However, during the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese didn¡¯t like the Korean Independence Gate or its meaning. Because of that, they built a prison next to it called Seodaemun Prison. There, many Korean patriots were tortured and killed.

I became interested in the history of the Independence Gate, and I would like to visit Independence Gates in other countries too.
