Today, I visited the Seodaemun prison. It is a sad place in our history. I was interested in the history of the prison, and I will tell you about it. When the prison was first built, it was 1908. IN 1907, the righteous armies were planning to attack Seoul, at that time Gyeongsung. But the head of the army got caught, so they needed a place to lock up all those people. SO they built Seodaemun prison, and the first prisoner was Heowi, the leader of righteous army in Seongju. He got executed in Seodaemun prison. He was also the first executer in Seodaemun prison. When March 1st liberation movement happened, the japanese added more buildings. And now, it is a historic site of Korea. Today, I felt very sad about what the japanese did to our righteous armies and people. Non of there should happen again. Thank you. |
