Hello, my name is EunSeo and I'll tell you about µå¹Ç.

In Joseon Dynasty, most palaces were mmade of wood. It was easy to burn. So they put water inside a  pot called µå¹Ç. µå¹Ç is not for turning of the fire. In that time, people believed that the fire spirit or evil spirit would run away if it saw its reflation in the water. Also it was once believed that frogs would cry out if a fire broke out. So, sometimes frogs were kept in the deumeu to serve as a natural fire alarm. This was rooted more in folk belief than practical use.

If you visit a royal palace, look for the water basins next to the main hall. They may look simple, but they hold the wisdom and beliefs of the Joseon people.

      Thank you!😊
