After visiting Changdeokgung Palace, I decided to write an essay about Nakseonjae. Nakseonjae is a building including three connected buildings. One is for the king¡¯s quarter, one is a villa for his concubine lady Kim, and the other is the residence for the queen mother. King Heonjong showed his passion for his art and love for his lady Kim, by building this building. Unique fact about Nakseonjae is that it is in a structure and feature of noblemen¡¯s house. It was for the royals to experience the noble¡¯s style of living. At this building, we can see several chimneys. Interesting fact I learned about the Chimney is that, if the chimney is more far from the house, it makes the building warmer because it can keep the warmth under the way linger. Also, I found many styles of patterns of doors and windows. Surprisingly, there were more than 200 styles of patters for doors and windows. Talking about patterns, there were also the patterns near the furnace. The patterns are called Ice breaking patterns, and they were made to prevent fire that was caused a lot because the building is made of wood and it was near the furnace. The favorite part about Nakseonjae was the trees and flowers I can see from the wide window. This place was with so much interesting and meaningful elements, so I would like to visit there again and admire those things.
