Hi my name is Jimin. Today I went to the Deoksugung which is also called the Gyeongungung. Deoksugung was originally a private house for Seongjong's older brother, but it was used as the temporary main palace of Joseon after the Imjin war. There were many interesting buildings and gates in Deoksugung but I liked the Seokeodang the best. Seokeodang is the only two stories building in Deoksugung. Queen mother Inmok was locked in Seokeodang for about 10 years by the order of Gwanghaegoon. But afther the sucess of rebellion of Injo, the queen mother Inmok made the Granghaegoon kneel down at the front yard of the Seokeodang. Gwanghaefoon had to read 36 things he did wrong as a king. And he had to go to Ganghwado after that. And also the Seokeodang has very unique design having no dancheong or decorations. This is to remeber the suffering of Japanese Invasion of 1592. There were many beautiful buildings and stories of Deoksugung. And the Seokjojeon and the water fountain were very beautiful. Thank you! |
